Learning recently that August 14, has been set aside for and proclaimed by the Mind/Body Medial Institute as National Relaxation Day, the thought occurred that since there is no better way to experience real relaxation than spending time in the buff, a Dallas Nudist Culture Day, seemed well overdue.

A solemn proclamation

It is hereby proclaimed;

Whereas, nudism is a way of life in harmony with nature and the environment and the practice of nudity provides one of the most effective and enjoyable means of finding relief from the stresses of daily living and experiencing real relaxation; and,

Whereas, the practice of non-sexual communal nudity encourages positive body image promoting respect for oneself and by removing barriers to communication between people, encourages respect for others; and,

Whereas, nudism embodies a profound sense of personal freedom and a provides the most unique yet most natural means of experiencing life in its purest form; and,

Whereas, nudism promotes optimal health through complete contact of the body with the natural elements and is therefore associated with an enlightened, holistic approach to nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and social interaction; and,

Whereas, nudism promotes wholesomeness and stability of the human body, mind, and spirit when people shed the psychological and social encumbrance of clothing; and,

Whereas, nudism promotes healthier and more humane living: richer, simpler, and enlightened by joy and freedom:

Therefore, I, the duly appointed and recognized Dallas Nudist Culture Examiner, do hereby proclaim August 14, 2010, as Dallas Nudist Culture Day, in recognition of the manifold physical, mental and spiritual benefits of practicing nudity and with the intent of encouraging all nudists residing in the greater Dallas area to celebrate nudism by renewing their practice of nudity and to encourage all other residents of greater Dallas to experience for the first time, this natural, wholesome way of enlightened living.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of Dallas Nudist Culture Examiner to be affixed. Done at the City of Dallas, in the State of Texas, this fifteenth day of July, in the year two thousand ten, this special day to be observed each anniversary of August 14, in perpetuity.

Facts and fiction

Well, alright, perhaps being the duly appointed and recognized Dallas Nudist Culture Examiner doesn’t come with any trapping of power or authority to issue area-wide proclamations. Perhaps then, the solemn proclamation is short on solemnity and long on tongue-in-cheek. Yet the fact remains, the substance of the truths contained in this fanciful proclamation are very much an accurate depiction and description of the many benefits and positive aspects of adopting the practice of nudism, the natural way to achieve relaxation. And after all, National Relaxation Day is real enough, it can even be found referenced on the Internet, so why shouldn’t Dallas nudists co-opt August 14 as the official Dallas Nudist Culture Day.

Experienced Dallas nudists have a host of choices about how to observe and celebrate the first annual Dallas Nudist Culture Day.
